Men's Health - the Common Sense Course

The Workers' Educational Association (WEA) has run the Men's Health Course very successfully for over two years. We are glad to say that we have confounded early worries that men would not attend because they do not like to talk about their health.

During the last Men's Health Week, we ran a well attended course at the WEA head office in Belfast. This year we are offering the opportunity to groups who would like to partner with us to deliver the course.

Already we have plans to run the course in conjunction with the Ardoyne/Shankill Health Action Zone and interest from projects in Newry and Antrim.

The course covers the following areas:

  • Introduction: Men's Health in Dire Straits
  • Penis, Testicles and Prostate
  • Men's Hearts
  • Men's Food and Diet
  • Men, Blood Pressure and Stress
  • Men and Emotional Health
  • Men, Alcohol and Smoking
  • Men, Depression and Suicide
  • Impotence, Infertility and Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Nightwork, Snoring, Teeth, Acne and Bad Breath

The course will take a serious subject in a light hearted manner and is designed to allow the men to take time to talk about their own health experiences.
